"And today was a day just like any other."

At least, that's what I'm hoping. Why, you ask? Well, today I definitely plan on writing THE ROUGH DRAFT OF MAH PAPER. Fingers crossed? Both papers were written. Were they written well? Not necessarily.

Anyways, this is going to be one of those entries (the random ones). I haven't done a list in a while (since the last entry, shutup), so let's start there.

RECENTLY
-I sold my soul to Google, and now my life is AWESOME. Or at least less sucky.
-Fenton ruined my college education (for a night). Elaboration later.
-I pulled several all-nighters (and one of them was for schoolwork!).
-I fell in love. Entirely separate post on that.
-Graduate school frightened me.
-I began reforming myself. Stopped procrastinating, etc.
-I was owled.
-Whitley and I went to Asheville. About twenty minutes in, I wanted to be a dress-wearing hippy with a puppy.
-Over Spring Break, I learned how to be a pirate. ARGH.
-I spammed Aaron's wall with Maine Coon kittens.
-My boyfriend left me to marry my PTBFFL. Kind of. (It's a long story.)
-I learned not to leave my computer unattended because I CAN'T TRUST MY FRIENDS.
-Speaking of computers, I GOT A SEXYSEXY NEW LAPTOP. Yes, that means I have five. Don'tjudgeme.
-I plan on doing something for NCUR, either about consumer protection or consumer electronics. Ihatemylife.
-MUD! KIP!
-This summer I'm going to try my hardest to accept my sister's offer to live with her for a couple of months in Gainesville. I LOVE FLORIDA.

FENTON
Ugh...where to begin? First and foremost, let's make a list (another one!) of things I learned from her this year.
  1. The Renaissance had lots of paintings.
  2. Fenton hates Finding Nemo.
  3. Nothing remotely helpful.
Does this mean that our final exam will be a piece of cake since she has taught us nothing? OF COURSE NOT. Instead, we shall be tested on everything we did not learn or vaguely remember her mentioning in the midst of her ramblings on anything (as long as it doesn't relate to the topic at hand, we're good).
ELYSIUM
You don't quite understand how fucking sexy this computer is until you see it. The sheer power is disguised by its sleek form, but it's hard to ignore the sight of a desktop gadget displaying 8 FUCKING CORES. Here's a breakdown:

  • Intel i7-720 (Quad-Core) processor
  • 6 GB of dual-channel DDR3 RAM
  • ATI Radeon 4830 graphics card
  • 500 GB hard drive
  • Beats audio system
  • Absolutely gorgeous. You have no idea.
I received Elysium, which is an HP Envy 15 (and the laptop I have lusted after since I discovered it), the day I returned to Western after Spring Break. I have been its devoted, loving owner ever since. It also knows, btdubs, that it is all that and an 8-course real, so it requires praise/coaxing sometimes in exchange for letting me use it. (idon'tmind)

This is my baby. I hate leaving Elysium unattended (I avoid it at all costs) or leaving it behind at all, come to think of it. When you have a computer this lovely, not taking it everywhere is heartbreaking.

For the FIRST TIME EVAR, my laptop can keep up with me. <3

On the name: Whitley helped me pick it. The choices were Arcadia, which I can't remember the details about, and Elysium (the city where the Master Chief was born). There are symbolic reasons for my decision (of course):
  • Since it's the city where John-117 was born, it represents the beginning of a whole new age (Spartan-IIs). Elysium (the computer) is similarly the start of a whole new stage of my life (in terms of electronics).
  • Elysium is like the Greek equivalent of Heaven. My laptop is Heaven. End of story.
  • The word "Elysium" looks pretty and sounds pretty, just like teh computer itself.
(RSN: I want a pink fire made out of paper.)

All-nighters...
Suck. Never get excited about doing an all-nighter. Never look forward to it. Approach it with the same apathy you will inevitably exit with, alongside the realization that your entire existence hates you. Also, your eyes will hurt.

I'm gonna go ahead and wrap this entry up, since it's a bit behind the times. <3

THE MOST EPIC BLOG ENTRY OF ALL TIME (PT. 2)

Continuing with THE MOST EPIC BLOG ENTRY OF ALL TIME!

CAPS LOCK DAY...
WAS THE MOST EPIC DAY EVER, YOU HAVE NO IDEA. IT ALSO HELPED ME FIND THE TWIN OF MY SOUL, KIT SUDOL, WHO ALSO HAPPENS TO BE A FAN OF CAPS/HATER OF SHIFT. FUCK THE SHIFT KEY.

IT DOES EXPRESS MY JOY, HOWEVER, SANS FANGIRL.

FOR ANYONE WHO SAYS CAPS LOCK IS ALWAYS LIKE YELLING, YOU ARE WRONG. THERE ARE TWO COMMONPLACE EXPLANATIONS FOR SPEAKING/TYPING IN CAPS:
  1. I'M NOT YELLING, I'M JUST SPEAKING EMPHATICALLY. ALL. THE. TIME.
  2. I AM JUST SUPER EXCITED ALL THE TIME, DON'TJUDGEME. FUCKERS.
ANYWAYS, I MUST NOW ABANDON CAPS LOCK FOR TEH SHIFT KEY. SADFACE. I WILL RETURN!

RSN: For my birthday, I want a shotgun with no recoil. Make it happen.

ON THE SUBJECT OF KIT SUDOL
She is the twin of my soul. In fact, we're kinda the same person. Let's see the similarities:
  • Shoulder-length brown hair
  • Square-ish glasses
  • English majors
  • Slowly dying on the inside thanks to Fenton
  • LOVE CAPS LOCK
  • Obsessed with kittens and StumbleUpon
  • Lacking souls
  • Brilliant!

And Kit. (In case you didn't know.)

How can you deny it when the evidence is so clearly laid out before you?

ELI AND THIS BOOK
This was an absolutely amazing movie. Tons of plot twists and other movie elements that I won't pretend to know the name of. (Cinematography? What is this bullshit?) I hadn't realized it was kinda relatively pretty much religious, hence the whole "book" thing. Bible!

Spoiler alert: They aren't talking about Harry Potter.

In fact, if Mila Kunis didn't look like she'd stepped out of an ad for fancy couture (is that right?) clothing, the movie would have been awesome and completely consistent and all that stuff. (I suck at movie reviews.) It was a really interesting take on what would happen in a post-apocalyptic world if there was no religion. Yes, it was pretty much anarchy, but they did it in a cool way

The most important thing you need to know about this movie is the couch.

The relatively inconspicuous one on the left, currently harboring Eli (Denzel Washington) and Solara (Kunis).

This couch seems pretty normal, right? From what you can see of it, it's the standard "stuck in a house with two old people (who may or may not be cannibals)" piece of furniture. Wrong.

THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING COUCH THAT HAS EVER EXISTED.

Why, do you ask? Well, this couch also happens to be a storage facility. For guns. Yeah, you heard me right: The couch cushions flip up to reveal a cache of weapons

I WANT A COUCH FILLED WITH GUNS. Youhavenoidea.

(Also, you know you're in college when there is a resounding cheer upon the revealing of said gun couch.)

BE AFRAID

The most amazing plant you will ever (not) see.

MOVING ON
I think I'm going to make a separate post on relationships. It's totally worth it, though it'll be super lovey-dovey in places so you might not want to read it if your soul tends to vomit upon encountering sap.

There are these things. They are shiny. They distract me.
The main distracty thing is StumbleUpon. It is a void that steals all of my time. I have also learned that the two things I feel morally obligated to favorite unconditionally are kittens and pictures of space (or possibly art in general). Irregardless, I Stumble across a kitten and I'm like, "(Requisite) Aww! LikelikelikeLOVElike." The key to my heart is tiny, fuzzy, and absolutely adorable.

It looks kinda like this.

Other websites I've found via StumbleUpon and spent hours of my life browsing:
  • Visualizations These are the most amazing things I have ever seen. Other than kittens.
  • MakeUseOf I have discovered so many things to download here. Also, I LOVE LISTS.
  • Gizmo's Freeware But I've found way more things to download from HERE. Yaylists.
  • SodaHead Mindless fun is always fun...in a mindless way.

OH FUCK YES IT IS.

Anyways, time to move on to the next entry. There are quite a few that need to be done (I'm pretty backed up after two months, I must admit. There are three possibilities for the next one:
  1. Another random entry along the lines of this one.
  2. Posting of an unfinished entry I just found in OneNote (with edits, of course!).
  3. Relationships, legit and otherwise.
I have not decided yet, so we shall see.

THE MOST EPIC BLOG ENTRY OF ALL TIME (PT. 1)

Barely.

To commemorate the two-month anniversary of my not updating, here is a blog entry! I am determined to finish this one, thereby making it different than the last...six or so that I intended to finish.

So much has happened that I don't know where to begin.

CRUCIAL EXPLANATION

Why haven't I been blogging? Several reasons.
  1. I am ADD and my life is filled with Shiny Things.
  2. Speaking of "my life"...I can has friends?!
  3. Research papers suck.
  4. Distracting boyfriend is distracting.
  5. I had a blog (existential) crisis.
So now I shall tackle Numbah Five. Then maybe the others. Not sure yet. Prolly. I want this to be THE MOST EPIC BLOG ENTRY OF ALL TIME.

BLOG (EXISTENTIAL) CRISIS

What is a blog, persay? Is it supposed to be free from tellings of my day-to-day life, filled only with deep, philosophical revelations? No random lists! No explicitly detailed recollections of that time you hung out with your friends last week! Badbadbad! (Sadface.)

That is for livejournal, where all the other whiny emo kids talk about their life that nobody cares about. And you know what? I have four livejournals! FOUR. Let's break this down:

  • ceilingfan41: kickin' it old school, this is the LJ I've had since like...8th grade. I stopped updating it and switched to the next journal because when I finally returned to LJ I was just too different to continue there. Like sketchbooks: my style completely changed and it would've been too broken up.
  • gray_ookami: my new journal, which is mainly used so I can link people to The List (ooh, see what I did there?). Everything else is surveys that are set to private because I don't want people to know how lame my life is. (I'm not as cool as I let on.)
  • akari_sunshine: journal composed primarily for posting fanfic drafts. It's all set to private, so no worries!
  • grayookami: ghost journal! I apparently made this, totally intending to use it, then forgot about it and when I went to put The List up on a site where I could link my friends with no worries, 'grayookami' was taken and I was like ZOMFG WTF SADFACE. Apparently I took it, so I only have myself to blame. FAIL.
Anyways, what I'm trying to get at is...this is my blog, and therefore I have the right to structure my posts however I want. I don't want my blog to be something it shouldn't have to be simply to conform to the norm. That's retarded. And no, nobody said anything to me about this. I've just read other blogs and they all seem to be so...simple, and usually address only one or two things at a time. That's so boring to me. :/

So yeah. Moral of the story is:

I DO WHAT I WANT, BITCHES. DON'T STAND IN MY WAY.

Don't you dare think I won't.

Next on the list, Numbah 2! (Yes, this is out of order. Get over it.)

FRIENDS ARE AWESOME

Over the past few months, I've met/grown close to a lot of new people, including but not limited to:
  • Whitley
  • Randall
  • Kit
  • Mae
  • Milo
  • James
  • Allyson
  • Other people that I prolly should remember but can't at the moment.

The best part is, I'm in a relationship with EVEN MORE PEOPLE NOW. Listlistlist later!

It's a really awesome feeling to have a ton of friends that you can always talk to, confide in, make inside jokes with, hang out in a commons until three in the morning, etc. This is how college is meant to be, btdubs. You're supposed to befriend tons of people, and then befriend their friends, and then their friends, until you eventually find a group of people that complement you and that you're proud to include in your circle. It takes a while to get there, and you'll become close to some people that you'll drift away from as you meet people more in tune with your personality/interests/happiness.

I'm here to tell you that it's okay

As long as you don't part in an angryfightingmoment, you guys will be cool, if you even remember that the other exists after a while. I've had friends that I hung out with a lot and thought I had tons in common with, and then after I met people that I realized were far more suited for me I hung out with them more. Make yourself happy. YOUR LIFE WILL BE AWESOME.

Now you are.

Random Side Note:
Expect a lot of these as this entry continues, though I might break it up into multiple segments.
Milo (2:59:35 PM)Wow, apparently there is a festival of BDSM in this country.
Me (2:59:40 PM)Srsly?
(3:00:20 PM)Link?
Milo (3:00:30 PM)It's in my Powerpoint in Psych class XD
(3:00:59 PM)I can't understand what he's saying as the name.
Me (3:02:15 PM)Aww.
(3:02:22 PM)Either way, that just went in my blog entry.
Milo (3:03:21 PM): Awesome! :D
(3:04:17 PM): FOLSOM STREET FESTIVAL/FAIR!
(3:04:51 PM):That's the name of it :D
Fucking. Epic.

RESEARCH PAPERS ARE THE SPAWN OF FENTON

This is what I had written down before I started typing (don'tjudgeme):
I LOVE MY LIFE BECAUSE MY TWO RESEARCH PAPERS ARE BEHIND ME. (Might I add that they are prolly lurking, holding impressive knives with maniacal grins on their faces?) So I am ready for ANYTHING LIFE CAN THROW AT ME. (Just kidding!)

Now I have gotten what is officially my FIFTH extension on my American Gov't paper, which is FUCKING RIDICULOUS/EPIC/FANTASTIC/TOTALLY UNDESERVED. (RSN: I love Caps Lock. THIS WILL BE COVERED LATER.) I think I need to explain these retarded ass research papers.
  1. Tintern Abbey: Assigned less than a week before it was due, with a minimum of five pages. She honestly expected a full research paper in less than a weekWhatthefuckery, anyone? I THINK SO. Also, I ended up not finishing it properly because she only gave us a week. Less than a week. Have I mentioned how fucking retarded this was? Because it totally was. I ended up explicating the poem because I couldn't figure out how to incorporate my lovely sources BECAUSE I HAD LESS THAN A WEEK.
  2. Consumer Protection: As if to completely contrast with the paper for Brit Lit, this is the paper that is now on the fifth extension. It was originally due before spring break, but I am awesome and therefore I was given extra time. However, consumer protection is quite possibly the most boring thing I have ever had to write a paper on. EVAR. I still haven't finished a rough draft, but it is due on Friday so fingers crossed!
So Aaron and I pulled an all-nighter last Thursday (his first one, he was so excited) to try and get shit done. I failed miserably, he succeeded (shocking! -eyeroll-). Tintern Abbey's paper is (theoretically) behind me (though I still plan on explicating/writing about it, bitches!), I just need to get crackin' on this AGP paper.

Upcoming papers:
  • American Gov't: consumer protection
  • Philosophy: abortion or animal rights
  • Intro to English Major: VSP (due tomorrow) and final exam essay
Hooray for writing!

So, part one of THE MOST EPIC BLOG ENTRY OF ALL TIME is complete. In the next issue (which should be ready some point soon...today...I'm going to go work on it right now!), expect:

  • CAPS LOCK DAY
  • Kit
  • Book of Eli
  • Relationships
  • Shiny things
  • Quotes
  • Quotes from David (yes, it deserves its own section)
  • Shotguns

Agreed.
